The first ever Television Personalities gig I saw! Possibly my favourite gig ever. Ian Cargill and I went to see this after Steve Ellis had introduced us to the band around the Summer of ’86 by loaning me a copy of “They Could have Been Bigger than the Beatles” - which was played incessantly for the rest of the ‘80’s. Back then before the internet, and like me ifyou weren’t big into music mags ...

The only TVP's botleg we ever had! Bought around 1989. The band are in cracking form on this cassette. Photos are from the actual gig! Copied from www.televisionpersonalities.co.uk/ there's also a great interview with Dan which he did before this gig also on www.televisionpersonalities.co.uk/ too.

Taken Easter 1974. I'm amazed at how busy the Den was in those days. I particularly like the shots of children "rolling down the hill" . That's what we did before we had video games and the internet! From a very dodgy amateur tele cine exercise we did in the early '90's.

Great atmosphere at this gig x
This is excellent!!! Sounds like it was recorded around the time of Chocolat-Art. A nice sounding tape indeed with a killer performance. I think I hear Jowe's bass here. THANKS for sharing this awesome show!
He was great as Vyvyan, but I think his finest moment was playing the Red Baron in Blackadder.
Please tell me that's the same brown suit he used for Eddie Hitler's costume lol
One of my comedy Gods. The other one is dead. R.I.P. Ryk
Can see Terry was enjoying himself here. Ade was a childhood hero. Simple stupid comedy but exceptionally well presented with his own unique style. Him and Rik are legends.
So unfunny...how did he ever become famous?
All the people commenting that he said bollocks, that's not shocking now, however there's no way you could use the word imbecile so casually on TV now. That made me uncomfortable
The sound effects segment makes my soul happy.
not funny just smug and crass
Bollox...
indeed!!! the height of British alternative humor!! bollocks, tits willies how hilarious!!!!!
Is it just me or is Wogan a lousy interviewer?
only Ade could do slightly cringey material and not seem the least bit cringey. He and Rick were indivisible
Amazing how him saying "bollocks" felt so revolutionary and shocking, compared to an equivalent interview in the 21st century.
Supergrass is excellent. I have it in my Comic Strip Presents box set. Over the years I have subjected my father to Young Ones, Comic Strip, Filthy, Rich and Catflap and Bottom and he dislikes them all but can’t get enough of The Dales which shows if you persevere long enough you can even be appreciated by my father.
I live in the dales so we of course watched that when it came out, absolutely blew my mind when my dad told us this rather serious presenter played vyvyan!!
I love him!
Would love to see Rik and Ade do a film with Laurel and Hardy.
Geez this guy is funny. Keeps Terry on his toes. Very talented man
and a 1st edition copy of "Parade" magazine...
Sad.
Hes lovely x I love Ade
I'm sure he's wearing the same suit he'd use for Eddie in Bottom!
Wait what happen to the end. He smashed the cup on his head then...blue screen
An interesting contrast with Rik Mayall's Wogan interview. Adrian is obviously much more shy and so has to hide behind a performance for most of the interview.
Love ade but this interview was stupid
Tel has white socks on.......so 80s.
That Acaster fellow's aged well!
he's soooooo pretty🥺🥺
Terry was the consummate nonce protector. Fuck Wogan. He knew about Saville.
Interesting to see that he has only recently shed Vivian, and was soon to do Filthy, Rich & Catflap, yet with the brown jacket and speech patterns you can clearly see that Eddie was beginning to make his presence known!
My claim to fame is that Ade's father, Frederick Edmondson, was my geography teacher in middle school. He looks a lot like his father here except his dad was bald and wore half moon glasses. I always remember his father wearing a brown/beige suit.
Cool. Do you feel that's why Eddie Hitler wears that same sort of suit? Thanks for sharing.
@@ThomasCorfield Maybe. His father was a very stiff upper lip type of person and we knew we were not allowed to mention his famous son because it would annoy him. We thought it was because he was embarrassed of him. I still have his father's signature in my autograph book.
@@noonoofulable That's beautiful. Makes stars seem mortal. Thanks so much.
OP, he was mine too; Drummond Middle in Bradford 😊 - Btw, what year did you leave? I left in 1988.
@@WillScarlet1991 In 1988. Same as you.
He sang the theme song for Ab Fab. He is brilliant.
Now THAT S an entrance !
Wigan ...I mean wogan...didn't know how to handle Ade Edmonton...ade had him on a string!!!..😋👍
Did Ade keep that shirt and suit for Bottom which was 6 years later?
What a crappy, sickly, BBC-nonce, wogan was....!! So fekking fake!! Puke!!
That was.... painful.
Is....is he wearing the Eddie Hitler suit? Six years before Bottom was even invented?
Syklone It definitely looks like it, yes. 😄😃👍🏻
He's hard to interview isn't he?
Marc Ludford yup, Terry Wogan is awkward and struggling trying to do this.
He's in eastenders now
Holy shit, how young does he look!
Before I watched him, I saw a picture of the Second Doctor and assumed his would be like a strict, no-nonsense character, but Patrick Troughton is such a delightful human being and I wish more 2nd Doctor stories survived
They said there will be 45 more years till the 13th so when will they be a woman well the answers 45 years in 2018
With the new Doctor now, I am surprised that this hasn't ran, or at least 7:35 - 7:45, more often. Or maybe it has, and I have just missed it. Thanks for the upload
Tom in the time vortex again... man, that guy can't catch a breath.
Thanks for sharing, snd enjoyed your story,i too had betamax back then, betamax rocked haha
My favorite
Verity was good looking even 20 yrs later, at 47! More importantly, a brilliant and resilient producer.
